Wednesdays @ 10:30 – 11:30am with Gen Kelsang Chogden
Transform your mind and you can transform your day….even your life! Buddha’s teachings explain exactly how to achieve this.
This class is a wonderful and insightful presentation of how we can apply meditation and Buddhism to our busy modern lifestyles. The teachings are practical advice that we can immediately put into practice to find greater love, compassion and wisdom in our everyday lives. There is usually time for Q&A and class discussion.
Dealing with Difficult Situations
If we learn to accept unavoidable suffering, unhappy thoughts will never arise to disturb us. There are many difficult and unpleasant circumstances that we cannot avoid, but we can certainly avoid the unhappiness and anger these circumstances normally provoke in us. It is these habitual reactions to hardship, rather than the hardship itself, that disturb our day-to-day peace of mind, as well as our spiritual practice. When we learn to accept difficult circumstances patiently, the real problem disappears.

Victory Over Negative Self
So often we are our own worst critic, and this also causes us to judge others in a harsh way. When we focus on finding faults in ourself and others we are creating and fostering unpleasant feelings in our mind, and thus we feel annoyed, depressed, anxious and irritated with the world, and create a self image of being a failure. Buddha explains how we can stop these bad habits, and substitute ways of thinking that encourage ourself and see the good in ourself and others. This results in our becoming more competent and brings harmony into our relationships.
