This meditation class in Columbia is held at the Oakland Mills Interfaith Center, a friendly and welcoming space that is centrally located in the town of Columbia. We meet in room 400 which is easily accessible after entering the building.
Breaking Bad Habits The weeks of October 16 through November 20
Our unpeaceful states of mind that cause us to suffer and perform harmful actions are just bad mental habits, and like all habits they can be broken. Just as it is possible to separate mud from water, so it is possible to eliminate all of our bad habits from our mind, then there is nothing that can disturb our inner peace and joy.

The holidays provide many opportunities to practice patience as well as expanding our love and compassion. We can learn methods to respond to both the difficulties and joys with a happy, peaceful mind and share these good qualities with everyone we encounter. This will make our holidays and relationships more meaningful.

Teacher: Rick Ratigan is a longtime member of KMC-MD and has contributed greatly to the community over the past 16 years. He is retired from the State of Maryland with a background in Social Services. He is a sincere meditator and Dharma practitioner and is well liked for his compassion and good sense of humor. Rick’s classes are down-to-earth and practical.
