Plan a special spiritual Mother’s Day!
Prayers for World Peace: 10:30am-11:45am
Brunch in World Peace Cafe: 12pm
This Mother’s Day, we are holding a special Prayers for World Peace class as a tribute to mothers everywhere. The class includes a guided meditation and a teaching on the kindness of mothers, and a traditional chanted prayer for world peace (prayer is in English). Everyone is welcome – you do not need to be a Buddhist to attend.
Families are welcome to attend; we offer a simultaneous Meditation for Kids Class at 10:30am – 11:45am. This class offers a simple introduction to Buddha’s teachings, emphasizing kindness, respect for others and keeping a happy heart. Children, ages 4 to 11, will learn the importance of loving everyone, being generous, and what to do when they have angry, worried, or unhappy states of minds.
“We should contemplate the great kindness of all living beings. We can begin by remembering the kindness of our mother in this life; and then, by extension, we can remember the kindness of all other living beings. It is very easy to forget our mother’s kindness, or to take it for granted; therefore we need to remember in detail how kind our mother has been to us from the very beginning of this life.” Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, How to Transform Your Life.
