Join us for an energizing 3-mile* hike through one of the Baltimore area’s beautiful parks. At the same time help raise money for the Kadampa Meditation Center Maryland World Peace Temple and the International Temples Project. Either gather sponsors or pay a registration fee of $25. The walk will begin with a guided meditation dedicated to world peace, and will end with a delicious picnic lunch. Last time we raised over $1300. Our goal with this event is to raise $2000. Help us cross the finish line!
Location: Picnic Shelter 245, Patapsco Valley State Park – Hilton Area, 1101 Hilton Avenue Catonsville MD 21228
Two ways to sign up to join the walk:
- Gather sponsors, & RSVP to let us know you are coming. Click Here. Pre-registration is required. — OR —
- Pay $25 per person. Click Here. Pre-registration is required.
Please turn in your funds raised before the day of the walk since the park does not allow money to change hands on park grounds.
*There will also be a shorter hiking route option (1.5 miles) for those who cannot complete a 3 mile route.
Details: To enter the Hilton area, there is a small fee of $3 per person. There is a one-way loop through the park, and once you are on this loop, take your first right into the parking area. Our picnic shelter is straight ahead: shelter 245.
Parking: There is limited parking on Saturdays so we recommend carpooling and getting there early (9 or 9:30am) to find a spot. If the lot in front of our picnic shelter is full, there is another parking lot about halfway around the loop.
Dogs are allowed if on a leash.
Bring a snack and a water bottle with you during the hike – it will take almost 2 hours to complete.
Wear sturdy shoes that grip (hiking boots are best), because there is a lot of downhill and uphill on both routes.
