Workshop: Building Self-Confidence
Saturday, September 13, 2014 @ 10am – 1pm at KMC MD Temple for World Peace
AND Saturday, September 20 @ 10am – 1pm at KMC MD Annapolis Branch
We often confuse self-focus with self-confidence, believing that if we concentrate on our own needs and wishes we will feel more confident, but this often leads to self-criticism and lack of confidence. By understanding what actually creates self-confidence we can learn to be reliable to our self and to others, feeling happy with our ability to accomplish what we set out to do.
Self-confidence is defined as a feeling of trust in one’s abilities, qualities, and judgment. Synonyms include morale, self-assurance, assertiveness, self-reliance and composure. To gain more self-confidence we first need to clearly define our goals. What do we want to achieve? Often times, it’s the nature of our goals that impede our self-confidence. Most often our goals include making ourselves happy, and while there is nothing wrong in wishing to be happy, making it the sole or main goal of our aspirations results in selfish behavior that harms others. By realizing that to be truly self-confident we need goals that benefit both ourselves and others, we can make swifter progress and be more confident because our scope of consideration and our resolve for action is larger than yourself. Join us for a detailed teaching, meditations, and tricks and advice to practice building self-confidence in our daily lives.
