Everyone is Welcome
General Program classes (GP, or drop-in classes) are the best place to begin to become familiar with the teachings and meditations and decide if they resonate with you and your experiences.
Selected Saturdays (Mar 2, Mar 30, Apr 20, May 11, Jun 29) at 2pm – 3:30pm
This annual fasting and purification retreat, performed in conjunction with a practice of the Buddha of Compassion, is a powerful way to purify negative karma of body, speech, and mind, and to pacify strong delusions such as hatred and attachment.
When we are overly attached to getting what we want and getting rid of what we don’t want, our mind is unstable, vulnerable and emotionally dependent on external things.
The enlightened mind is said to be like a boundless deep ocean, every drop of which has the power to bring inner peace to living beings. Receiving an empowerment is like connecting with this ocean-like potential inside our own mind, giving us the courage and wisdom to begin to realize our own Buddha nature.
This retreat will be lead by Western Buddhist Nun, Gen Kelsang Chogden and Western Buddhist Monk, Gen Kelsang Wangden. At this retreat, people from VA, MD, PA, NJ, etc. will be gathering to enjoy meditation and visiting with each other in this relaxed country setting.
Kadampa Meditation Center Maryland is a Temple dedicated to bringing peace and happiness to the world, and to removing suffering, through offering the methods of meditation and modern Buddhism.
